Most les mis fics seem to be modern day AUs, so let’s take some cues from Elementary when it comes to modernising old stories. I’m thinking of two things in particular:

• not all the white men have to stay as white men
• addiction is better understood and better cared for these days - give me recovering alcoholic Grantaire
